20 rewarding years Of Glue-More Packaging...
20 years ago, Stuart was approached by a colleague, who presented him with an opportunity to take on the Valco Melton Agency for South Africa. He was fortunate to have years of experience & knowledge in this industry, however, it still took a lot of courage and sheer determination for him and his wife Mary to take on this venture.
In the year 2000, the couple registered the business and the two began working on this new dream. Each of them played to their strengths. Stuart had the industry knowledge, vision and integrity, and Mary, a woman of strong faith, equipped with excellent communication skills had the ability to hustle and learn quickly. Together they learned the ins and outs of starting up a business by overcoming many obstacles and hurdles along the way.
Stuart's vision wasn't simply to sell a top quality product in the industry; he wanted to provide more than that! His vision was to provide a unique service for his customers to accompany his great product. He wanted more than anything, to help them take care of their machines and provide immediate support whenever the machines malfunctioned. This inspired him to start by servicing and cleaning the adhesive equipment by hand from his home garage in Benoni. His mission was to provide his customers with the best equipment from his agent Valco Melton and to provide them with the best after-sales service, product maintenance and 24hour breakdown service. This vision required a lot more input from Mary as she took on more roles and responsibilities so to ensure all operations (at work and at home) ran smoothly.
It was one Christmas Eve that Stuart was exhausted, desperate and in need of help that he found himself pulling over to the side of the road in front of a group of jobless men.
He awarded one of them with an opportunity to become his apprentice, and off they went to complete their first job together. He was their first and most memorable employee who worked with them for many years.
In 2004, business was booming which inspired growth and new opportunities for the business.
In 2010 the business won its first award as the Mpact supplier of the year, a great tribute to the hard work and dedication put into the business.
In 2014 Mary and Stuarts eldest son delighted them by joining the business and in 2016, their other son joined him. Chris and Barry share their parents same aspirations, passion and entrepreneurship for the company. They've learned a great deal over the years watching their parents run the business by picking up on their friendly attitude with their customers and adhering to the cardinal rule of always putting the customers needs first. Whether it's 3am in the morning or 10pm at night, Glue-More Packaging prides themselves on being the first guys who you can call. They are devoted to providing top quality machinery and the very best all-round service in the industry. For this reason they were once again awarded the Mpact supplier of the year award in 2019 and will continue to uphold their reputation.
